When Your Relationship Criteria Lead You to the Wrong Partner
Tuấn, 26, worked at a television station. Energetic, capable and almost ‘perfect’, he had very high expectations of a girlfriend. His difficulty was not finding someone to date, but that none of his relationships lasted longer than a year.
Tuấn came to ME&WE to understand why he could not sustain a relationship or progress towards marriage. The team found his girlfriends met most of his criteria: attractive, tall and slender, good at cooking, feminine, sweet and so on. Yet every relationship ended because his girlfriends became jealous and easily upset.
Through coaching, Tuấn realised the personalities he sought also came with unwanted traits: emotional fragility, jealousy and a tendency to get upset. He began relationships with desired qualities and ended them over unwanted ones. His coach helped answer his questions and adjust his expectations to fit his goal of starting a family. He also gained practical lessons in harmonious behaviour and communication so his partner would not feel worried or doubtful in ways that led to jealousy and damaged the relationship.
