A ‘Mysterious’ Learning Trip to Malaysia: A Fateful Meeting and Transformation

A ‘Mysterious’ Learning Trip to Malaysia: A Fateful Meeting and Transformation

Part 1: A Chance Encounter That Turned Out to Be Destiny

It was an ordinary day at a training course in Bangkok when destiny unexpectedly appeared.

I was completely absorbed in learning, taking in every bit of knowledge. Little did I know that day would begin a journey I had never imagined.

He entered casually, simply stopping by to visit a friend. We exchanged ordinary greetings. Then he suddenly asked, ‘Why did you choose this path? How have you devised so many tools without studying psychology?’

We were simply curious about one another: a practitioner without formal qualifications, and someone with two doctorates in psychology who taught in several Asian countries, including Vietnam.

The happy encounter left a deep impression. We parted with mutual respect and curiosity that remain with me today.

Part 2: The Surprise

In July 2024, I accepted an invitation to speak at an international school in Malaysia.

Before signing the contract, I flew to Kuala Lumpur to meet the school’s manager. I planned to return immediately, but remembered someone I had met in Bangkok might live there.

I messaged him that I had arrived in KL and asked whether he had time for coffee. To my surprise, he replied immediately and agreed to meet early the next morning. Fortunately, my return flight was that evening.

The meeting opened not just a pool of knowledge but an entire ocean—one I had sought for a long time. I asked whether he could teach the method to my team. He agreed, and for the first time I took the whole team to study with me.

Part 3: One Surprise After Another

It was my first class with only three students—the MEW Team—but 25 participants altogether. I walked in surprised. He explained that the others were there so we could learn. Surprise number one.

Thick manuals were handed out. He said he had worked hard revising this edition, then told us the materials would not actually be very useful. We could read for background, but true learning required all our senses throughout the experience. Surprise number two.

We learned mainly through observation, listening and watching him work from morning until late afternoon. We could take notes but not speak or even practise together. Yet we never felt sleepy: we remained energised, warm and cheerful. Previous courses had required dancing, music and shoulder massages to stay alert, and still we sometimes dozed off.

Here we needed no breaks to remain fully awake, highly focused and deeply engaged. Surprise number three.

Part 4: The Change

I would call this an experiential journey for the whole MEW Team rather than a course. Each of us had different experiences and discovered new applications, improvements to old tools and ideas for new ones. There was so much that we spent three consecutive days in team meetings after returning, exchanging everything we understood, knew and thought so nothing would be missed.

Part 5: The Future

We have always been proud of supporting clients promptly. Now we are refining tools to work more deeply, effectively and even faster. Our excitement remains strong two weeks after the trip ended. The MEW Team continues growing every day to offer clients the best possible support.
